WHAT IS ROTARY?
Rotary is an organization of business and professional men and women united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will and peace in the world.
The first Rotary Club was organized in Chicago in 1905 by Paul Harris. This Club met in rotation at the offices of the members; thus, the name, ROTARY.
Each Rotary Club is grouped with other nearby clubs into 439 Rotary Districts. Rock Falls is one of 49 Clubs in District 6420, with over 2500 members in the District.
Rotary Clubs are located in 160+ countries and geographic regions, with over 28,000 clubs.
Rotary International, with headquarters in Evanston, IL, is governed by a President and Board of Directors elected from different regions. Each District is governed by a District Governor - each Club is an autonomous group.
OBJECT OF ROTARY

THIRD, the application of the ideal of service by every Rotarian to his/her personal, business and community life.
FOURTH, the advancement of international understanding, good will and peace through a world friendship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
