All third grade students in Merrill, Thome, East Coloma-Nelson, Montmorency, St. Andrew, Prophetstown and Tampico Elementary School classrooms were presented with an age- appropriate dictionary to use and to keep. Close to 300 dictionaries were given out in 13 classrooms by Rock Falls Rotary Club members who shared how a dictionary is helpful and how to access numerous items of additional information within this particular dictionary. Students were anxious to start using the dictionary immediately and especially liked the section of large words in the English language.

This is the seventh year the Rock Falls Rotary has completed the Dictionary Project with third grade students in all Rock Falls schools, and the first year that Tampico and Prophetstown classrooms were included in this literacy project.
